Reignite Your Passion & Inspire Your Teens

Most experts recommend that parents lead by example, especially when it comes to avoiding stale-ness by taking on new initiatives, developing new interests, and challenges themselves. In his book Brainstorm (The Power & Purpose Of The Teenage Brain), Dr. Dan Siegel explains how teens mirror their parents’ lack of purpose.
He reminds us that when our own lives lack novelty seeking, and we get stuck in patterns basically doing the same old things over and over, our teens are more likely to mirror that and that the goal is “to “inspire to rewire” both adolescents and adults alike toward integration”.
So get out there and start living again. Take long walks, hikes, a new class, meet new people, play a board game, start gardening, etc and reignite the excitement and feeling of youth in your adult self. In short, get passionate about things again.
According to the Smithsonian Magazine:
“The beauty of the event is that adults get to become children again for the weekend,” Giorgio Moratti, an event organizer, tells Smithsonian.com. “It’s a magical thing that happens and it’s amazing to see people play a simple game of hide and seek as adults.”
The event is now in its its eighth year, and so far it has “drawn teams from nearly 80 countries”
! I say they are really on to something!
