[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When the education funding is already scarce in many states, and the discrepancy between the per-student funding in these states is so wide, where are schools supposed to get the extra funding for initiatives such as STEAM?Following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School recently, Florida schools funding for the 2018-2019 was given a boost, raising the per-student funding by $101.50 during 2018-2019 to $7,408. Across the United States, per-student funding ranges from a low of $6,751 in Utah to a high of $20,744 in New York.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It is therefore not surprising to hear that some teachers are spending money out of pocket to cover the cost of materials. According to PBS, “Science teachers aren’t the only teachers who spend out of pocket to purchase supplies for students. However, science teachers face challenges that other teachers don’t. For instance, science courses often require more money than other subjects due to their hands-on nature”. (See Article)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
